Munich, 31 January 2017 – As of the beginning of 2017, Maiwald appointed two new partners, Dr-Ing. Sophie Ertl and Dr Eva Dörner.

Sophie Ertl (37) specializes in litigation in the field of engineering. She has extensive experience in patent infringement and utility model infringement proceedings, nullity and cancellation proceedings. In addition, she advises and represents clients in patent grant and opposition proceedings. Sophie Ertl graduated in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich and worked at BMW AG’s engine production division for several years. She joined Bardehle Pagenberg in 2006 and has been working for Maiwald since 2013. Sophie Ertl is licensed as a German patent attorney and admitted as a European patent attorney to represent clients before the European Patent Office.

Eva Dörner (34) is a German and European patent attorney and has been working for Maiwald since 2011. She advises clients on securing, defending, enforcing and contesting industrial property rights in the fields of chemistry, pharmacy and plant protection. In 2014, she was seconded to a chemical company where she worked as a patent counsel in the crop protection division. During a stay in an IP law firm in the USA in 2016, she also gained detailed insight into US patent law.

“We are delighted to welcome two more equity partners,” said Martin Huenges of Maiwald. “Sophie Ertl will reinforce the partner level in the expanding field of engineering. Eva Dörner will assist in designing the continued expansion of the chemical, pharmaceutical and plant protection sectors.”
