Maiwald appoints Dr Naho Fujimoto as partner

As of September 1, 2019 the law firm Maiwald, one of the leading intellectual property firms in Germany, has named Dr Naho Fujimoto as partner.

Dr Naho Fujimoto studied chemistry at the University of Hamburg and earned her doctorate in the field of organic chemistry. Of Japanese background, she was born and raised in Germany and, in addition to her native languages of Japanese and German, she is fluent in English and French. In 2015 Dr Naho Fujimoto was admitted to practice as a European Patent Attorney and 2016 as a German Patent Attorney. She has been working for Maiwald since 2013.

Dr Naho Fujimoto works in patent prosecution with companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries worldwide, particularly in the areas of polymer chemistry and formulation technology. She specializes in the European phases as well as in managing complex, worldwide patent families and portfolios, from filing to grant to post-grant procedures. She has extensive experience in providing strategic advice and supports clients in product-related projects, in development and negotiations, including drawing up state-of-the-art searches, freedom-to-operate and validity opinions, monitoring competitor activities and opposition proceedings.

“Over the past few years, Naho has contributed very successfully and with a high level of professional expertise  to the success of the Life Science team. Naming her as a partner will contribute significantly in the future as well to being able to provide our clients with the best possible advise and support, and in particular being able to continue building our business in Japan. We wish her much success in her new position and look forward to continued fruitful collaboration,” said Dr Martin Huenges, a partner at Maiwald.
