Wei Yao is a patent attorney trainee at Maiwald. She studied electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, pattern recognition and intelligent systems.

While working on her doctorate, in addition to being involved in various projects at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), departments of Photogrammetry and Image Analysis (PBA) and Earth Observation (EO) Data Science, as well as at the Center for Sensor Systems (ZESS) at the University of Siegen, Wei Yao developed algorithms and software tools in the fields of satellite image processing (SAR and optical), image mining and image fusion. She also implemented spatial data services on a cloud platform for the rapid generation of reliable image datasets for deep learning algorithms through human interaction with the computer. She subsequently worked as a Helmholtz AI consultant on solving scientific problems with artificial intelligence.
