Maiwald appoints Dr Fabian Kiendl as Counsel

Maiwald Patentanwalts- und Rechtsanwalts GmbH, one of Germany’s leading intellectual property law firms, has appointed Dr Fabian Kiendl as Counsel, the appointment to take effect as of 15 October 2019.

Fabian Kiendl studied physics at the RWTH Aachen and received his doctorate in the field of (magneto-)optical scanning near-field microscopy and computer-protected image analysis at RWTH Aachen’s Physics Institute. He began his training in intellectual property law in 2005 at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. He qualified as a European patent attorney in 2008 and as a German patent attorney in 2014. He has been with Maiwald since 2014.

Fabian Kiendl already accumulating experience in the world of computer networks when this was still frowned upon. So he was a “digital native” before the term existed. He is very much in demand for all patent matters related to machine learning, security, networks and blockchain as well as software and digitalization in general. He also processes applications from the fields of physical measurement techniques, power systems engineering and signal processing, in particular from the field of science.

“Fabian has supported our engineering team for many years as an experienced patent attorney. He arrived at just the right moment when digitalization was metamorphosing from a passing fashionable trend into an unstoppable technological progression. In many digital areas, from blockchain to 3D printing, Fabian uses own computer as a tool to expand his own practical experience. We are very pleased to follow this continuum with him and we congratulate him on his new position”, says Dr-Ing. Sophie Ertl, Partner at Maiwald.
