Michaela has many years of experience in patent examination and opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office [EPO) and the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO) as well as corresponding appeal proceedings before the EPO Boards of Appeal and the Federal Patent Court, respectively. Michaela has moreover frequently and successfully conducted patent and utility model infringement proceedings, nullity proceedings (also before the German Federal Supreme Court) and utility model cancellation proceedings. A significant part of her work relates to the preparation of opinions on freedom-to-operate, infringement and validity questions.

Michaela obtained her doctorate at the Institute of Medical Physics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg on dedicated computed tomography of the female breast. She chose superconductivity as the subject of her diploma thesis, during which she acquired expert knowledge in low-temperature physics.
